MOM! There’s something looking through the window!

By andrewiverson

Probably every man’s fear…  You get a text while your out mid-evening, your wife telling you the kids saw something looking through the kitchen window.  No more information than that and your not home to deal with it…. WHAT DO YOU DO!!?

I get a text from my wife that says…

Tyler and Kyle said they see you in the kitchen window and you look like a monster and you are scaring them.  They are afraid to leave their bedroom.  They want me to go look but told them we are going to stay in the bedroom..

As a man, primal instincts kick in and I’m ready to  break every speed limit known to man in order  to get home and beat the tar out of whoever is attempting to break into my house.  At least, that’s what was going through my mind.   At that very moment, I was in a PTA meeting.  I stood up, grabbed my coat and ran to the car.   What felt like an hour to get home really only turned out to be around 10 minutes.  I pull into the driveway slowly scanning every inch of my yard and exterior of the home.  NOTHING!

I open the garage door and jump out of the car and again look around, still nothing.

I unlock the door to the house from inside the garage and slowly make my way in.  I’m not afraid to say what I was thinking at that moment.  I had images of the worst case scenario of my family being taken hostage in the back bedroom and I better be ready to go kung-fu real quick.

I work my way to the back bedroom and stop and listen and then suddenly hear my oldest yell to his younger brother.

I’M GOING TO TELL DAD!!!

PHEW! They were okay.  So, I walk into my kids room, get their attention and ask my oldest.

Kyle, what did you see in the kitchen?

I don’t know, it was like this (he then begins to do sign language and charades)

No, Kyle what did you see?

Looked like this… (again, charades)

My son loves to draw so I asked him to get off his bed and go over to his desk and draw what he saw in the window.   Kyle jumped off his top bunk and ran over to his desk, pulled out a pencil and began to draw.  After a few minutes, I looked over his shoulder and had to ask him…

What is that????  Is that a window?  A person?  What is it?

I don’t know.

You don’t know?  Was it a person?  A thing?  A piece of paper pressed up against the window?

I don’t know.

So I grabbed his drawing, turned over the piece of paper and copied what he drew but fixed it up and added color according to what he said it looked like.  Once I was done, Tyler jumped off his bed ran over and yelled…

THAT’S IT! That was scary daddy…

I sat there and stared at the drawing and for the life of me couldn’t figure out what I was looking at.  So I took the drawing and told the boys to follow me to the kitchen.  I told them to go into the kitchen while I went outside and held up the drawing to the window.   Once outside, I held the drawing up to the window and they both yell…

THAT’S IT DAD! That’s what it looks like!!

I’ll have to admit, I’m a little freaked out because of what the drawing looks like and why in the world would it be peaking through our window…

I once more confirm with my boys…

Boys, is this really what you saw?  Was it flat or like a box?

It wasn’t flat dad, it was like a box but had eyes.

EYES?! Okay, is that what those two dots are?

YES!

Sooo, I tell them to go back to bed and I went outside and walked around the house and all over the property and I just couldn’t find anything that would hint something was outside our house.  Sooo, I walk inside and show Suriana the drawing and we’re both stumped and a little weirded out at the same time.  What in the world did my boys see tonight….  Anyone?

Here is the drawing.
