Dad can stop the rain!!!

By andrewiverson

This afternoon Suriana and Tyler (3.5 years old) are in the car and on their way to pick up Kyle from school.  As it’s raining outside, Tyler suddenly tells Suriana…

Mom!  My dad…  my dad can stop the rain!!

Suriana a little shocked said back to Tyler…

Huh?  Did you say Dad can stop the rain?

Tyler said..

YEA!  My dad can stop the rain!!

Suriana tells Tyler…

Uh, Tyler, God actually is the one who is capable of stopping rain…

Tyler with lots of GUSTO says…

NOOOOO, Dad can stop the rain!

They argued back and forth about who can stop rain for awhile and the argument ended when they arrived at the school to pick up Kyle.   A few minutes later Suriana text’s me ONLY this part of their conversation…

Guess what Tyler just said?  “MY DAD CAN STOP THE RAIN!”

SWEET!   I’m feeling pretty good that my son thinks I’m capable of stopping rain from falling to the earth.

So, I get home tonight and I dish some dinner up for Tyler and I.  Tyler and I are in the middle of eating and I get up and walk over to the back door and as I’m looking out the back door I put my hands on my sides and puff my chest out and say…

SOOOO, did you know that I stopped the rain!  LOOK, it’s not raining anymore!!

At this point, I’m feeling heroic knowing my son looks up to me in this way…   UNTIL I hear him say behind me as I’m staring out the back door…

NO! God stops the rain!   God stops it dad!

I slowly turn around and stare at Tyler for a few seconds and ask him…

WHO told you that??

Tyler says..

MOM did!

Arrrgggg…  As much as I wanted to somehow convince him that his good ol’ dad is capable of stopping rain, I couldn’t argue with him.   So I walked over to him, sat down and told him…

Your right Tyler, God is the only one capable of making the rain stop.

I sat back down and continued eating in silence.  Oh well… at least for a few minutes today there was someone on this earth that truly believed that I had the power to change the weather at the blink of an eye.  Once in a lifetime, once in a lifetime!
